NEWS: LinkedIn opens publishing platform to 25,000 members
LinkedIn has opened up its publishing platform to 25,000 members, with the aim of allowing users ‘a powerful new way to build their professional brand.’
Now when a LinkedIn member publishes a post on the social network their original content becomes part of their profile and shared with their network. A range of content from images, videos and presentations can be shared. As a result, the content has the ability to reach a broader range of professionals.
Members can also now follow other members that are not in their network and build a professional following.
Plus, LinkedIn is adding new Influencers, these include include Nissan’s CEO Carlos Ghosn, CEO of AOL Brand Group Susan Lyne and financial expert and CNBC host Suze Orman. The social site has said it will regularly evaluate its Influencer list to include only the most engaged, prolific and thoughtful contributors and to ensure their expertise matches up with members’ interests.
Ryan Roslansky, director of product management at LinkedIn, explained in a blog post: ‘LinkedIn Influencer started in fall of 2012 and features top voices in business like Richard Branson, Martha Stewart and Bill Gates. The expertise they have shared through their Influencer posts has resonated in a meaningful way with LinkedIn members and is fueling business conversations. The average Influencer post drives more than 31,000 views and receives more than 250 likes and 80 comments. By any measure, this is a remarkably high level of engagement for digital content.’
The social network for professionals will be expanding its influencer capability to all members in multiple languages across the globe in the coming weeks.
