The company's wholly-owned subsidiary Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India's (HMSI) 110cc scooter 'Dio' was its lowest cost two-wheeler so far in the country at Rs 44,718.
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India, country's second-largest two-wheeler company, launched a new 110cc motorcycle, the Dream Neo, targeting its rival Hero MotoCorp's largest selling model, Splendor.
Honda's second bike in the Dream series, Neo would be priced at Rs 43,150 (ex-showroom Delhi), making it the company's cheapest twowheeler model sold in the country. The company aims to sell three-lakh units of Neo in the current fiscal, and around 8 lakh bikes under its Dream badge in the same period.

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India president & CEO Keita Muramatsu said, "We have developed this affordable bike keeping in mind the Indian customers. It is also the most fuel efficient motorcycle at 74 km/litre in the country. The bike would be our answer and next big leap in the Indian commuter segment that forms over 50% of the bike market."

Honda's Neo would be directly pit ted against its erstwhile two-wheeler jointventure partner, Hero MotoCorp's Splendor, which remains India's largest-selling bike with an average monthly sales of around 2.5 lakh units. The Splendor range starts from Rs 42,250 (exshowroom Delhi).

The company has launched several new features in the bike to take on Splendor. Honda's second mass market model Neo, comes with maintenance-free battery, high ground clearance of 179mm along with six-spoke alloy wheels and drum brakes with additional option of front disc brake on the top end variant.

The Dream Neo is offered in 6 dual tone colours. It features the same 110cc, air-cooled, 4-stroke engine from the Dream Yuga model, that produces 8.25 BHP of raw power at 7500 rpm. The company is strengthening its marketing setup to increase its penetration in India with the debut of its high volume models. It also plans to expand its sales outlets to about 2,500 by end of this fiscal.
