Villages set to outshine slowdown

With good monsoons leading to robust consumer demand and various development schemes such as one based on NREGA (National Rural Employment Guarantee Act) pumping in a lot of liquidity into the rural market, the country’s hinterlands may actually turn out to the drivers of India’s economic growth.
“Good monsoons and development schemes have pumped in a lot of liquidity into rural economy,” said Bandyopadhyay. “The overall economy will benefit from rural demand growth.”
