The 4 P’s of Nanatsuboshi in Kyushu

Earlier this month, Kyushu Railway Co. in Japan raised the curtains on a new luxury cruise train that will ply on Kyushu, Japan’s fourth largest island. Christened the Nanatsuboshi, or Seven Stars, the train was built at a cost of around $30 million and features an amalgamation of modern design and classic Japanese furnishing and detail across seven passenger cars—each symbolizing one of Kyushu’s seven prefectures. Japan’s Asahi Shimbun newspaper reported that the Nanatsuboshi cost as much as one of Japan’s famed bullet trains to build.
While Japan has several other tourist trains, this will be the first one targeted at luxury clientele.photoProduct:
Passengers have a choice of 12 suites and two deluxe suites for their accommodation. Rooms are finished in handmade furniture and crafts with walls and flooring in woods, including Hinoki cypress. Each suite is equipped with its own lounge area, beds, shower and toilet. Deluxe suits are around twice as large as regular suites and feature large windows with panoramic views. A dining car will serve gourmet seasonal food while a lounge car will transform into a bar at night, complete with live music performances.
