Note 3, Galaxy Gear hit India market 

 

 

■ Samsung India head, mobile and IT, Vineet Taneja NEW DELHI: As the South Korean tech major Samsung Electronics seeks to further bolster its product portfolio across the country, the company on Tuesday launched its wearable computing smartwatch Galaxy Gear and the high-end smartphone Galaxy Note 3 in India.
The fact that the two devices have been introduced in the Indian market days after being unveiled at an international trade show in Berlin speaks about India’s importance for the tech giant.
Samsung already leads India’s smartphone market with around 50% market share but appears in no mood to get complacent in the highly competitive market, which is growing at about 100% every year and has cutting edge

■ Samsung also launched its first smartwatch Galaxy Gear, a wearable computing device, in India for ` 22,990. Both these products would be available from September 25. products from the likes of Apple, Sony LG and Nokia-Microsoft.
Mobile and IT products contributed 65% of Samsung India’s ` 27,000-crore revenues during 2012.
“We will continue to offer state-of-the-art products to Indian consumers,” said Vineet Taneja, country head Samsung Mobile and IT. He added that the computing smartwatch Galaxy Gear, which is worn like any ordinary wristwatch, allows users to make calls, apart from seeing quick preview of incoming emails and to a host of other apps.
“The Galaxy Gear comes with a Bluetooth 4.0 and hence is compatible with most of other Samsung Galaxy devices,” said Taneja.
Galaxy Gear has been priced at ` 22,990, while the Galaxy Note 3 will come with a price tag
