Hyundai unveils compact sedan Xcent to compete with Honda Amaze, to launch Santa Fe tomorrow

Hyundai has announced its new compact car that will take on the popular and just launched Honda Amaze, Maruti Suzuki SX4 and the yesterday’s Ford Figo compact concept sedan.

“Brilliance finds a new expression for all those who seek distinction, comfort, convenience and high value since Hyundai India has globally unveiled its stylish and hi-tech family sedan – Xcent” says the company while launching the car.

The company’s new car has been named ‘Xcent’ – learning from its popular Accent sedan and based on line with the Grand i10. The front crome grille, the headlamps and the side profile seems based on the Grand i10. The new sedan in fact appears as a stretched Grand i10 echoing a similar profile.

This however, is a good news, because the car will be a budget car and will give a close competition to the mileage conscious Honda Amaze.

The Xcent will come with similar engine options like the Grand i10 - petrol 1.2-litre kappa 2 and diesel 1.1-litre fuel variants. It will also come in manual and automatic gearbox options in petrol and a 5-speed manual on the diesel reports Economic Times.

That’s not the only car the company to unveil this year. The company will be launching the sedan Santa Fe tomorrow. The company has called it powerful, strong and dynamic car. This is expected to be an compact SUV with newly designed headlamps and rear lamps. This vehicle is reportedly under production at the Chennai plat of Hyundai and hence will cost less on pocket.

According to a news report in Business Standard “Hyundai has kept the vehicle same as the company's existing 2.2-litre diesel powertrain is still powering this new vehicle. This mill churns out a maximum power output of 194 bhp with a peak torque performance of 436 Nm. The SUV is being offered with both manual as well as automatic transmission.”

Guess who is welcoming you for the show. Hyundai’s Indian brand ambassador Chennai Express start Shahrukh Khan has been detailing the plans of the company in a short video, uploaded on Hyundai’s Facebook page. In this 1.24 minutes video the actor details the 4 different section in the Hyundai pavilion, where the company is expected to showcase its new innovation.
