NEWS: Twitter boosts brand awareness not sales

Brands use Twitter to boost awareness rather than drive sales, according to new research carried out by the Social Meida Marketing University and published by Mashable.
A whopping 79.4 per cent of brands said they use Twitter to ‘increase brand awareness’, while only 24.4 per cent said they use the platform to ‘drive sales’.
Meanwhile, 58 per cent of brands use the social network to ‘drive traffic’, 55 per cent to ‘engage exisiting customers' and 51.9 per cent to ‘find new leads’.
Meanwhile, 39.7 per cent of brands said they use Twitter as a marketing tool to ‘increase customer loyalty’ and 42 per cent said to ‘improve brand awareness’.
