Realty, auto pull Sensex down 83 points

Erasing its opening session gains, the Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex fell by over 80 points in the morning session today due to profit-booking in realty, auto, power and PSU sector stocks amid firm Asian cues.
At 10.32 a.m., the Sensex was down 83.58 points 19,507.60 and the wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty down 34.35 points at 5,851.35.
Volume toppers during the session were SBI, RIL, Tata Motors, ICICI Bank and Tata Steel. Major Sensex losers were Infosys, Tata Motors, ONGC, RIL, Wipro, SBI and Hindalco Industries. HDFC Bank, ITC and Bharti Airtel were the major gainers.
Among the sectoral indices, realty was down 1.53 per cent, auto 1.3 per cent, PSU 1.07 per cent and power 0.83 per cent. Only FMCG was up 0.48 per cent. Of the total 2,506 stocks traded, 928 advanced, 1,505 declined and 73 remained unchanged.
Meanwhile, in the Asian region, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index was up 0.5 per cent and Japan’s Nikkei 0.91 per cent in the morning trade today, while the US Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.14 per cent lower on Thursday
